Doughnuts for Pia

It was 7:45 in the morning on a Sunday when I found myself lining up for doughnuts for Pia. I don’t mind waking up early, I always do anyway. What bothered me about this particular exercise was the fact that I was standing at the tail-end of a long-ass line. It didn’t really matter what I was lining up for, mind you (e.g. I almost skipped the submission of my application for the University of the Philippines just because I thought the line was too long). The fact that I was in queue was enough to irk me.

But I stayed in line.
Because, like I said, these were doughnuts for Pia.

Oftentimes I find myself doing the most inane things just to make her happy. And for those who know me, acting silly is not exactly something I enjoy doing. Imitating funny characters on TV, inventing new Wowowee-caliber dances, serving as a make-up guinea pig – I’d go on but the list is a bit embarrassing.
Sometimes, I get into situations where I have to do things that annoy me. Like lining up. Enough said.
And there are times, I have to do things that not only irritate me – but downright trouble me.

It gets tough, to be sure. But I supposed it’s part of what being a relationship is about – doing things that may seem ridiculous, performing things that may put you off, accomplishing things that you genuinely find difficult to do. Because if the person is worth it, no effort should be saved.

And she is worth it. She deserves no less.

what is it about my brothers’ girls and doughnuts?! lol! i remember almost 2 years ago when melch was visiting me - well, it was actually his last night. we were on our way to the hotel to meet tanya BUT we had to stop at (3) places (in pouring rain mind you) … 1. krispy cream (i don’t eat it so don’t expect me to spell it correctly) 2. orange juice 3. in/out burger … every stop, melch shook his head - i laughed, of course. we arrived at the hotel … “hello”/”hi” … yada, yada … and then tanya sat down, opened the bags, she took a bite at that burger and i can never forget the look on her face and that smile … like a kid who just got the one thing she wanted in the world - priceless! and melch said, “that’s why” … so, i totally get you :)
